What I've been reading:
Quiet: The power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking by Susan Cain
This is a fascinating study of the difference between introverts and extroverts, and why the "extrovert ideal" turns introvert strengths into weaknesses. It really is a study though-Cain backs everything up with research and interviews and at times the narrative slows down because of this. While it is empowering for introverts, Cain is careful not to denigrate the talents of the extroverts. She is clear that the world needs both, and that each can learn from the other. This isn't a beach read, but it's well worth checking out!
What I've been watching:
Nine for IX on ESPN. My husband and I have long been hooked on the 30 for 30 film series that ESPN has been airing over the last few years, and the other night I stumbled on Nine for IX. Just like 30 for 30, directors have been tapped to make a documentary about any aspect of women in sports to celebrate Title IX. The episodes will be airing in July and August. Check out the link for more info and trailers for documentaries. Finally some great tv to watch this summer.
What I've been reading around the web this week:
This is pretty much what I'll be packing for all future summer trips.
Popcorn and ice cream? Delish.
Another fun summer series to watch. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee by Jerry Seinfeld. It's exactly what it sounds like, but so so so funny.
Everyone in my family loves kabobs and we are always on the lookout for a new recipe. This middle eastern one from Elly Says Opa caught my eye.
Chocolate chip cookies in less than 20 minutes? Sold. Thanks Simple Slice!
Speaking of chocolate chip cookies...these from Brown Eyed Baker are huge and packed full of chocolate. Maybe I need to make them all and taste test?
What are you up to this weekend? We're headed to civilization to see family and meet our newest niece. We're all just a *tad* bit overexcited!
